What is CTEVT?
The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) is an autonomous body established by the Government of Nepal with the aim of promoting technical and vocational education and training in the country.
It was established in 1989 under the CTEVT Act and is responsible for formulating policies and guidelines for technical education and vocational training in Nepal.
CTEVT offers various programs in fields such as engineering, health sciences, agriculture, forestry, hospitality, tourism, and entrepreneurship. The council has a network of more than 700 affiliated institutions across Nepal, which offer diploma and certificate programs and short-term training courses.
CTEVT has also established partnerships with international organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to enhance its capacity and improve the quality of technical education and vocational training in Nepal.
What does CTEVT do?
CTEVT also sets standards for technical education and vocational training in Nepal. It develops curricula, syllabi, and teaching materials for various programs, conducts research and development activities, and provides technical assistance to institutions. The council is also responsible for accrediting institutions that meet its standards.
In order to ensure that the programs offered by its affiliated institutions meet its standards, CTEVT conducts regular inspections and evaluations. It also organizes workshops and training programs for teachers and instructors to improve the quality of education and training.
In summary, CTEVT is crucial in promoting technical education and vocational training in Nepal by developing and implementing programs, setting standards, accrediting institutions, conducting inspections and evaluations, and collaborating with international organizations. Its efforts are geared toward producing skilled human resources that can contribute to Nepal’s economic growth and development.
